The Health
and Social Care NVQ qualification is delivered to the student at different levels
according to the level of competence and experience the student has.
There is
also an opportunity for a senior person to be involved running the Care home to
be working towards the Registered Managers Award-this combines NVQ business
units as well as Care Units.
The NVQ qualifications in
Health & Social Care are designed for people
who work with individuals to support and
assist them with their physical or emotional
care, daily living needs or maintaining
their independence.
The NVQ Level 2 qualification is aimed at
home care assistants, community support
assistants, healthcare assistants and
residential or day service assistants.
The NVQ Level 3 qualification is aimed at
individuals who often work without direct
supervision or on their own, perhaps in a
user's own home. The level 4 qualification
is aimed at people in supervisory or
management roles.
NVQ Levels 3 and 4 include a pathway for
adults which is appropriate for senior care
workers, healthcare workers, home care
organisers and community support workers.
We recommend for a new person to the care industry or those with care experience
but not in a supervisory role to start at NVQ Level 2.
A student who has been in a supervisory position NVQ Level 3.
A senior
position within the organisation would work towards NVQ Level 4 in Care.
