This Act is
being implemented during 2007, and should be
fully up and running in October 2007.
The Act assumes
that everyone has the mental " Capacity " to
make decisions, irrespective of age,
disability or illness etc.
It outlines the
assessment process that must be followed
where capacity is in doubt.
Specifically the
course will address :

Capacity
Assessment for
Capacity
Discussion of
notion of " Best Interests"
New term used in
the Act will be introduced and their
meanings.
Forward
directives will also form one area of focus
There is also
some protection for social care workers,
this will be outlined
Case scenario's
will be used throughout the course.
